The international and regional human rights mechanisms available to civil society organizations, highlighting the roles of the United Nations and African Union systems.

On August 28, 2025, the executive director participated as a Human Rights Expert in a workshop organized by International IDEA for the Sudanese civil society, held at the Fairway Hotel in Uganda. During the opening ceremony, he delivered a speech expressing solidarity with the Sudanese people, recognizing their resilience and ongoing struggles. He then presented an overview of the international and regional human rights mechanisms available to civil society organizations, highlighting the roles of the United Nations and African Union systems. The workshop also included contributions from UN and AU experts, fostering productive discussions to strengthen human rights advocacy for the Sudanese civil society and promoting greater cooperation and dialogue on protecting human rights in Sudan.

We are honored to announce the nomination of our executive director as a member of the Governing Council of the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) and as a member of its Executive Committee. This appointment comes at a significant moment as the Centre intensifies efforts in strengthening civic engagement and institutional governance across Africa. Serving alongside distinguished colleagues, we look forward to contributing to the Centre’s strategic vision, advocacy for human rights, and the advancement of democratic values throughout the continent. We are grateful for this opportunity to help shape the direction of ACDHRS’s vital work in the coming year.
